For the coconut lovers out there: with just 5 ingredients, you will make this very classic Brazilian dessert!
servings: 20 squares / preparation time: 30 minutes
8 oz grated coconut
1/2 cup water
1 can of condensed milk
2 cups sugar
1 tbs butter
1 – Place all ingredients in a saucepan and mix well using a wooden spoon.
2 – Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens up.
3 – As it begins to loosen from the bottom of the pan, remove from heat and stir well for about 5 minutes.
4 – Pour on a greased baking sheet, spread, and allow to cool it down.
5 – Cut into squares and store in the refrigerator or sealed container.
Tips and Options:
- To give different texture, use coconut flakes instead of grated.
- Lemon zest, orange zest, or 1/2 cup passion fruit juice are great flavor alternatives.
